Berenice Quirino

Berenice Quirino, Of Counsel at Torres & Caraves Law, is a rising star in the field of criminal defense.

Berenice’s path to law began with a Bachelor of Arts in Photojournalism from the University of North Texas in 2015, where she also minored in Spanish, Social Sciences, and Economics. During her time at the University of North Texas, Berenice excelled, earning a place in the Honors College and achieving recognition as North Texas Daily Photographer of the Year and Editor of the Semester.

Her interest in the legal field was ignited while working as a reporter covering criminal cases in Lake, Mendocino, and Humboldt counties. While she enjoyed reporting on the cases, Berenice desired to be more directly involved in the legal process, advocating for those facing criminal charges.

After setting her sights on law school, Berenice earned her Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University in 2022. She distinguished herself through academic achievements, including a Dean’s Scholarship, a place on the Dean’s List, and her role as Managing Editor of the Law Review. Berenice's legal acumen was further recognized with the Witkin Award in Business Associations, CALI Awards in Evidence, Appellate Advocacy, and ABA National Appellate Advocacy, and with top grades in Federal Income Taxation and Advanced Tax Research. She was also honored with the Leslie Rose Excellence in Advocacy Award and actively participated in the Moot Court Board and the Honors Lawyering Program, earning a Business Law Certification.

Berenice gained valuable legal experience through clerkships at the State Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Her experience with the California Supreme Court, Criminal Central Staff, further solidified her passion for criminal law and her dedication to ensuring clients receive the best possible representation.

Admitted to practice law in California, Berenice’s background as a reporter and storyteller provides her with a unique skillset that allows her to best tell her client’s story. She leverages her experience in interviewing individuals during traumatic times to build strong relationships with clients and foster open communication. Berenice is committed to ensuring that clients are always fully informed about their case and feel empowered to make confident decisions. With her diverse background and commitment to clients, Berenice is a welcome addition to the Torres & Caraves Law team.
